Cyprez Cerveceria | Ongoing label design

Cyprez is an independent craft brewery in Mexico City. Over the past three years I've designed 20+ labels for their rotating and core range, handling everything from initial concept through to the printing process.

Each label starts with the client's brief and builds outward: some call for loose watercolour, others for tight isometric illustration or bold line-drawing. The variety is intentional. Cyprez uses its labels to give every beer its own personality while staying recognisably theirs.

Scroll down for a selection of designs from across the range.

Lager MX, stocked in restaurants across Mexico City. The label captures the flow of energy through the city’s architecture, rendered in line work.

Session India Pale Lager, also stocked across the city. The label maps Mexico City's social landscape: its people, cultures, and classes layered into a single illustration.

Escrúpulo or, in English, “scruples”. The city reimagined as stacked geometry, with isometric architecture pushed to its logical, Tetris-like extreme.

ROMIPA. Taking its cue from Cyprez's slogan 'cerveza de la ciudad', the label pays homage to La Roma, a Mexico City neighbourhood known for its walkable green spaces. At its centre: a reimagining of the statue of David, which stands in one of the neighbourhood's parks.

Coyoacán. The neighbourhood's name translates from Nahuatl as 'place of coyotes'‘, so the label puts a pair of them front and centre, set against a red geometric pattern drawn from the area's distinctive tile work.

IPA POP. Designed for the hot season, and Cyprez's most tropical tasting beer.

Into the Hops. A nod to the Pacific Northwest craft beer scene. Painted in watercolour and finished digitally.

Il Motorino. A collaboration between Cyprez and Cerveza Bruer for an Italian pilsner; the label takes the Vespa as its icon, rendered in watercolour and finished digitally.
